Not So Silent Nights in Jim Thorpe

On Sunday afternoon, we spent some time with several longtime friends in Jim Thorpe, PA.

For those that have never done much beyond read about it, or passed through on your way to somewhere else...you are missing a place that reeks of history and is a retail therapy heaven for both the young and old(er). If window shopping is your thing, there's plenty of that as well.

Want to know what the home of one of the richest men in America ( circa 1860's ) looks like 150 years after it was built for the astronomical sum of $14,000?

And yes, they give tours!

Anyway, I took over 100 pics which I will save for another day.

For a future post:

The steps on Packer Row that creak when no one's there.

  1. I just love Jim Thorpe! My favorite is the Mauch Chunk Opera House. A tiny little venue renovated (not astronomically either) about 10 years ago. It is so small there is not a bad seat in the house. It is quaint, homey, gets really good shows and is run all by volunteers.
