Marcellus Shale Activism 102: Go to the Source

If you do nothing else, remember the date and title of this post. I'll be circling back to this at some point in the not too distant future.

I received multiple e-mails regarding yesterday's post. I also had a near record number of visits to this blog. And I am convinced, now more than ever, that the vast majority of folks out there are spitting into the wind. There are many who truly understand the issues behind the issues, but there are far more who don't. As my boss put it the other day, "they don't know what they don't know."

The SRBC meets quarterly. Their next meeting is in June. They usually post their agenda on their website ~30 days prior to the meeting. If you oppose what the SRBC is doing, show up at their next meeting. Better yet - rent a bus, show up en masse. Let them know how you feel during their "public hearing" portion of the meeting.  That's my best advice based upon my decade+ of following what they do, attending multiple SRBC meetings, and networking with others who have been doing this for quite some time. . If anyone has a better idea...fire away. Figuratively speaking, of course.

On another note, I decided to spend a few bucks on an underwater case for my new camera. It's rated to be watertight to a depth of 40 meters. It's my plan, once the river's flow drops and the water warms up a little, to get a video or two of the methane bubbles coming out of the Susquehanna's bottom and post them here.

Lots going on out there, folks. Unless something huge breaks loose, I'm going to take a few days off from blogging to take care of some pressing personal issues.

Happy Hump Day!

  1. The underwater camera is the way to go. Get it.

  2. I want to say that this is such a great idea but how nuts is it that you even have to resort to these measures?

  3. Peter: I already have the camera and marine case. On your second comment, I agree that it is nuts. However, as you know, unless you stand up and do something..nothing gets accomplished. We need a SRO crowd at the next SRBC meeting. I have the day off, and I will be there.
