I just spent 45 minutes on the phone with a Bradford County resident. There has been a major "event" in the Leroy area of Bradford County all along Rte. 414. Chesapeake Energy and the DEP are working furiously to keep the true extent of this methane migration "event" off the media's radar screen. Wells are bubbling out of control. Streams are bubbling. Wetlands are bubbling, and some funky looking "mud" is oozing right out of the stream bed of several creeks in the area.

Pretty harmless...right?
Let me guess: "No environmental impact."
Reading between the lines...more than methane has migrated. My contact stated "square miles" have been impacted and tempers are flaring. At this moment, concerned citizens are out with night vision video cameras documenting what's going down. Let me guess: "No environmental impact."
More if/when I am provided with additional pics, videos, etc.
Hey...New Yorkers!
You seriously want this mess in your state?
Please keep us updated and let us know as soon as any more pictures/video becomes available. The mere fact that SAIC is there worries me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the alert. Have tweeted and posted this on my Facebook page. Yes, we New Yorkers (most of us) are fighting for our state to extend the moratorium on fracking. A huge political upheaval seems to be occuring and we notice a shift toward the possibility of a ban. I couldn't have said this a month ago.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments and the F/B post. I'm hoping a Bradford County resident decides to send me the video I'm hearing about that shows a veritable geyser of Marcellus muck shooting out of a stream bed. It will be posted anonymously unless otherwise directed. Actually, send it to anyone...let's just get it out there for everyone to see. Time to step up, folks.
ReplyDeleteNO we seriously do not want this in our state..please kkep us up to date...We are worried about your health and your future PA
ReplyDeleteThanks. We're concerned too. Fight this as hard and as long as necessary to ensure this does not happen in the Empire State.
ReplyDeleteIs this Don from New Hope?
DeleteI grieve with you, and no we can not let people look away!
DeleteI've crossed-link your blog to my blog posting

Call the media-- a bunch of them that cover your area and let them see what is there-- they will release it to the public and it will go viral and call AP reporters for wider coverage-- get citizens to videotape and put it on youtube to send out to legislators, regulators and media.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the info. I live off of rte 414 and had no idea this was taking place. If I can get more info I will pass it on.
ReplyDeleteWhat Vera said, or maybe go to ProPublica, Abrahm Lustgarten, or the NYT, Ian Urbina.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping that courage comes by boatloads to those folks who are witnessing this "event" to come through with some information and photos. If this is a truly big event, then the responsibility to expose it is very great, indeed. Waiting for more...

Thanks to all. I'm juggling multiple personal and business projects right now, so your support makes this task easier. Someone has to make a tough decison regarding the video. It's on them now.
ReplyDeletewe have to ban it. Start here and then sign every other petition calling for a ban that you come across:

Please please keep us updated. There are two new Cabot fracks off of Route 81 between the Lenox and Harford exits. You can see the one from the highway. It's bordered by two creeks exactly like this. Just got fracked two weeks ago.... how quickly did this mud show up after the fracking?
Please get this out to media, not just locally but also in the rest of the world. The local media in PA does not show stuff that we can see on foreign media or even what is show in NY. The powers that be don't want us to be informed.
ReplyDeleteGetting that video out will help so many people. To whomever has it, please, please get it out there. People NEED TO SEE IT! The more vocal you are the less they can intimidate you. This is SO important. Bless you. Anyone with pics and videos, please share them.
ReplyDeleteI embedded your video on my blog, Ohio Frac and the Environment, using the embed code in the video. http://ohiofracandtheenvironment.blogspot.com/2012/05/leroy-blowout-video-by-susquahanna.html
ReplyDeleteHere is a link in case you want to make sure it looks okay. I'll remove the embed and just share a regular link if it's not okay that I shared it - just let me know if there's any problem.
There is a well they just drilled 2 miles from my house in Lorain County, Ohio. How do we stop the greed and destruction? How is it fair for other people to put MY family at risk? City water or not, this is an AGRICULTURAL community. We have a garden and our kids play outside!
ReplyDeleteOMG, you alarmist make me sick. Let's just keep buying oil from the terrorist then. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteGee, Anon., sorry I make you ill. Take two aspirin, drink some water from Dimock, and when you learn how to write at the 5th grade level...circle back for a guest post. One condition...I'll need your real name. I already have your ISP address.
DeleteBetter yet, Anon should take Advil, eat some M&M's (the candy coating on both is made from fracked paraffin - Google it when you have a moment) and then he or she should drink some water from Dimock.
DeleteWe need to vote out the Republicans and take back our rights.
