Early this morning, I was looking into possibly attending this year's NEPA Blog Con on Saturday, October 5th.
Check out their list of sponsors here.
Interesting decision.
More in a few...
Semper Vigilans since 1999
"Tarbell said various substances could easily seep into the groundwater through cracks in underground rockbeds created by the fracturing process of drilling for oil and gas, leading to the determination that Schreiner was the responsible party for the contamination."Read the rest here.
Dirty money is still green. Hard to turn it away.
ReplyDeleteMother Theresa once said she would take money from the devil to do God's work. (She did have a history of taking money from donors and sending it straight to the Vatican rather than spending it on the people she had made her mission.) I know the ladies who run this worked very hard to find sponsors. Did any anti-fracking groups offer to sponsor, I wonder? I do not believe that this sponsorship in any way implies endorsement or will buy suppression of any anti-fracking bloggers in attendance. (Tickets are still on sale; proceeds benefit Blue Chip Farms.)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments. I understand what you are saying. Although I've learned never to say never, I hope I'm never in a position where I have to consider accepting money from an industry that is raping our environment at will and creating residual damage that will last for generations. Unfortunately, I can't answer the question about anti-fracking sponsors. Were any called? I wasn't. I'd love to know what Cabot donated, as for a brief moment, I considered the scenario where someone ( or a group of "someones" ) would match Cabot's donation on the condition their $ were returned. I realize it's too late now ( T-shirts, etc. ), but it could have happened.
