Earthquakes: Apples and Orangutans?

You've gotta read the intelligent quotes from the NG folks in this article.

Ne'er the twain shall meet? Try again, gents.

Hmmmm...how about: Truth and the energy industry.

Nope: No possible connection there, either.

By the way...there is no "g" at the end of orangutan.

    Union County Government Center

    155 N 15th St, Lewisburg

Apologies for the late notice. We just received word that the Union County and Northumberland County Planning Commissions are sponsoring a panel discussion tonight at the UC Government Center titled, "Marcellus & Utica Shale: Development Potential and Regulatory Authority." The speakers will be two Penn State professors, Mike Arthur (Professor of Geosciences and Co-Director of the Marcellus Center for Outreach and Research) and Ross Pifer (Professor of Law and Director of the Agricultural Law Resource & Reference Center).

According to the press release, "This program will provide information on the geological potential for natural gas development in Union and Northumberland Counties. It will also provide an overview of natural gas regulatory agencies, statutes and case law as well as how they relate to local government." It is hard to tell from this description, but it sounds like the speakers may be arguing that there should be shale drilling here in Union County.

There is no fee for the program, but "due to limited seating," only ~100 registrants will be allowed in. As of 9:30am this morning, about 50 people have registered so there is still room for about 50 more. To register, please call Janice Wagner at the Union County Planning Commission, 570-524-3840 or jwagner@unionco.org.

Hope you can attend, and if you do, please send us your impressions!

Thanks for all that you do.

    Sincerely,
    Jove, on behalf of CSCC
