Aging RR Bridge To Come Down (?)

Caught the following this morning in the online Times-Leader:

"Removal of a deteriorating railroad bridge spanning the Susquehanna River in Exeter Township also is on the funding roster for $614,600. Officials fear the bridge, owned by Leo Glodzik, of LAG Towing in Duryea, could collapse and create a dam on the river."

You can read the rest of the article here.

Having paddled under that bridge a couple of dozen times, I and many others have witnessed the slow deterioration of its pillars over the years, and "rusting hulk" could easily apply to the rest of the structure.

Just curious...how does one buy a bridge?

Well, at least they can't turn this spot into a parking lot.

Eventually, the relentless combination of time and nature will reclaim all we have made...and destroyed.
