Krancer's Krew: DEPraved Indifference

"To constitute DEPraved indifference, the defendant's conduct must be 'so wanton, so deficient in a moral sense of concern, so lacking in regard for the life or lives of others, and so blameworthy as to warrant the same criminal liability as that which the law imposes upon a person who intentionally causes a crime. Depraved indifference focuses on the risk created by the defendant’s conduct, not the injuries actually resulting."

The recent allegations that the DEP has intentionally withheld data about contaminated water supplies caused by the activities of the natural gas industry didn't even cause me to raise an eyebrow. I already know they are corrupt to the core...and so does this guy. I just hope he hurries back from wherever he is and starts spilling the beans. Like yesterday.

On May 30, 2012...the DEP sampled the grayish gunk coating the bottom of a tributary of Towanda Creek in Bradford County. The same grayish gunk that's on my hands in this video.

Here we are, over FIVE MONTHS LATER, and where are the test results? What is the DEP hiding?

In situ sediment my *ss.

I know some folks in Bradford County who want to believe the DEP and the NG industry have their best interests in mind. One of them visits my blog almost daily. I hope the recent revelations finally convince you otherwise.

To that individual and his family: My apologies. Time for us both to move on. No need to visit anymore. I no longer have the time or desire to stay involved in a "neighborhood" issue.

You've got a great group of locals that know what they're doing.

Besides, the NG folks have already started to build their team for the coming assault on the South Newark basin in southeastern PA, upon which my property sits smack dab in the middle. They have no clue what type of reception they will receive. That will be my focus going forward.

PA Governor Tom Corbett's team in Harrisburg should all be dragged from office.

That day can't come soon enough.

Stay tuned.

  1. Ha! Renegade came to mind as I read the NYT this morning. It is consistent how power and greed ultimately eat themselves time and time again; just unfortunate that they take so many prisoners along the way and there is no cure after the fact. What's the matter with PA? Sandusky, Ciavarella, Conahan (Luzerne County judges) and on and on...

  2. No, the DEP and the NG industry do not have the best interests of the local people in mind. This is so obvious to the most casual observer. It's all been said before, but the DEP is in the business first and foremost of promoting the NG industry. The fox is guarding the hen house.I have had several phone conversations with the head of waste management, for instance, in Williamsport and I am always amazed at how these public agencies overlook egregious situations and how they give the benefit of the doubt over and over again to the gas companies either because they do not have enough personnel to really inspect and follow up or because in the long run they think the industry will bring money in to the state. They don't want to be seen as giving the industry a hard time. The officials are extremely conciliatory. The whole thing is way out of control. Meanwhile people get sick, die, and animals and the environment are permanently harmed.

  3. Peacegirl: Thanks for your comment. As unbelievable as it may be, there are still folks out there who would take the word of the DEP over independent scientists.
