"On July 4, 1845, Henry David Thoreau moved into a small cabin near Walden Pond in Massachusetts and began writing “Walden,” the autobiographical book that would define his legacy."
Many attribute what Thoreau wrote over the next two years, two months and two days while "living deliberately" in a cabin the size of a large bathroom as the nascent stirrings of the modern-day environmental movement.
While buying a few mementos at the Walden Pond store, I described our ~2 mile walk around Walden Pond to some dude tallying up my purchase as 'mystical'.
His response: "I hear you, brother." In retrospect, that didn't come close.

Here are a few pics from our 2 hours, 2 minutes and 2 seconds @ Walden Pond.
There are many special places out there. This is one of them.
Don, you have inspired me to take my grandson here when we visit Massachusetts next week. The pictures are wonderful.

ReplyDelete1. Swimming is allowed...they have a nice beach at the main entrance/walkway. I saw a few folks swimming the entire length of the pond. 2. Bring a rock or two to add to the memorial cairn right next to the cabin site. I want to go back in the fall...it was a darn near cosmic experience.
