My obsessive Marcellus Malediction will soon be at an end. Hopefully, in about a month or so, I'll be able to redirect my energies to focus on more pleasurable and personally rewarding avocations.
Many years ago, while fighting the proposed inflatable dam on the Susquehanna, I received an email from an employee at Wilkes University. In summary, the person - from firsthand experience - stated that (s)he had been called on the carpet at told that their anti-dam position could cause Wilkes to lose a significant amount of funding/support from a certain ( now former ) U.S. Congressman. In addition, it could cost them their job and threaten the jobs of other "colleagues" at Wilkes if the funding was yanked. The person providing that inside information walked away from taking any public position for or against the dam from that point on. I respect his/her decision.
I am in a strikingly similar position right now...and I'll leave it at that. For those that know me from well before the Marcellus Madness began, rest assured; plans B, C and D are already in motion...and I'll leave it at that as well.
A fellow co-worker that I respect greatly has only recently become more aware of and attuned to the Marcellus Mess in PA. This is a Columbia and Harvard graduate...an insanely intelligent guy. Crazy smart doesn't even come close.
His assessment? Someone will soon hit the wrong button on the wrong person.
Unfortunately, I fully agree.
I agree, too, Don. Unfortunately.
