In reviewing the multiple online articles related to Marcellus Shale drilling this morning, I caught this comment in one of them:
"Soap box, ballot box, jury box and ammo box......use in that order. And no, I'm not advocating the use of violence, but we do have a responsibility to oust our leadership when they become corrupt. The last one is meant to ensure the first three are usable and enforcible."
The full article can be viewed here.
For those that are following all things Marcellus closely, this comment should not surprise you. It is truly a matter of when, not if. Even though I live outside the Marcellus Shale Zone, I have already been directly impacted by its reach in a way I was not anticipating.
And that reach is growing.
The first "Shot Heard 'Round the World" was fired on April 19, 1775 in Concord, Massachusetts.
By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world.
The foe long since in silence slept;
Alike the conqueror silent sleeps;
And Time the ruined bridge has swept
Down the dark stream which seaward creeps.
On this green bank, by this soft stream,
We set to-day a votive stone;
That memory may their deed redeem,
When, like our sires, our sons are gone.
Spirit, that made those heroes dare,
To die, and leave their children free,
Bid Time and Nature gently spare
The shaft we raise to them and thee.

For those that think this can't happen in our civilized corrupt present-day society...I hope you're right.
As for me? I'm erring on the side of caution.
