RiverFest 2011: Li(n)es in the Sand

Here's another verbatim snippet from a senior member of the Wyoming Valley RiverFest Committee in response to my request to refund the money received from Chesapeake Energy and Williams Energy:

"I hope you will reconsider actively protesting an event that works to reconnect people with nature and the river and educates them about environmental issues.  This is not a gas leasing meeting, or an event exclusively sponsored or created by the gas industry.  They will not even be present at RiverFest."

"They will not even be present at RiverFest." That statement doesn't leave too much room for interpretation, does it?  Yet, Williams Energy had a table and giveaways which are clearly evident in this video.

Speaking of Williams Energy, they stopped by for a few visits yesterday.

Anyway, another RiverFest is behind us and there are many more paddling events on the calendar throughout the region. Once the river drops and clears a little, I'll be getting some additional footage of the river bubbling in Bradford County and will check out some other spots I've been told about.

I will have some final thoughts about RiverFest 2011 in the next few days. In the interim, I truly hope that all those who are responsible for organizing RiverFest 2012 carefully consider accepting sponsorship money from any member of the Marcellus Shale Coalition next year.

I truly do.

      "...misguided and misplaced"?

Methinks not.
